Welsh Language

The Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales, like every other public body in Wales, is expected to comply with Welsh Language Standards issued by the Welsh Language Commissioner in Wales.

The Standards aim to ensure a level playing field for Welsh Language services across Wales and the Police and Crime Commissioner recognises the fact that Welsh speakers have a right to access services in the language of their choice.

The Standards can be broken down into four categories: Service Delivery; Policy Making; Operational and Record Keeping. They cover a wide range of issues, including arranging meetings, answering telephones, developing a bilingual culture within the organisation, human resources and creating new policies.

Complaints about Welsh Language Standards

The Chief Executive will deal with any complaints that relate to compliance with the Welsh Language Standards or complaints regarding a failure to provide Welsh Language Services.

Complaints about the Welsh Language Standards will be treated in accordance with our Welsh Language Complaints Policy.

You also have a right to direct a complaint that relates to the Welsh Language Standards directly to the Welsh Language Commissioner
