With some exceptions, the Police and Crime Commissioner is responsible for holding to account the Chief Constable of North Wales Police Force. The Commissioner is the appropriate authority for any complaints, conduct matters, or Death or Serious Injury matters involving the Chief Constable of the Force.

The Chief Constable are responsible for holding to account everyone else in the Force. This now includes complaints against the Deputy Chief Constable, Assistant Chief Constable and all other matters concerning the Chief Officers.
