Ann Griffith was nominated Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner on 28th July 2016.
Ann Griffith is originally from Barmouth from where she attended Ysgol Ardudwy Harlech.
She travelled and worked in Australia before studying to be a Social Worker in Lanchester Polytechnic, Coventry and specialised in psychiatric social work.
She has lived on Ynys Môn since 1984, when she took up her first post as a Local Authority Social Worker in a Community Mental Health Team.
Ann worked with all client groups as a Social Worker before taking promotion to first line manager within Gwynedd Council. She was the Team Leader in the Arfon Duty Team responsible for initial assessments and joint investigation of child abuse with the Police.
Ann later spent 10 years employed by NSPCC Cymru as Project Leader of a Comprehensive Risk Assessment project (Gwynedd and Ynys Môn) and was then promoted to Service Manager NW Wales responsible for a range of projects across North Wales (Risk Assessment, Therapeutic (Children), Youth Council, NW Child Abuse Enquiry Victim Counselling) and setting up the NSPCC Cymru Helpline.
She has been an Independent Social Care Consultant since 2002 employed in a range of roles across North Wales Local Authorities : Chairing Child Protection Conferences; Investigating complaints (adults and children); Baby Peter File Audit; Interim Operations Manager; Interim Head of Service; Interim Business Manager Local Safeguarding Children Boards (Gwynedd and Ynys Môn) (Flint and Wrexham).
She has held a Ministry of Justice Appointment [Office of the Public Guardian and Court of Protection Visitor, Mental Capacity Act 2005] since 2008.
Ann was elected in 2013 as a Plaid Cymru County Councillor on the Isle of Anglesey Council, Bro Aberffraw Ward. Until she stood down in May 2017 she was Chairperson of the Planning and Licensing Committee. She has previously held shadow portfolios for Social Services & Housing and Planning and Vice Chair of the Fostering Panel.
She stood in the 2015 General Election as Plaid Cymru candidate for Montgomeryshire. She was a Plaid Cymru candidate on the regional list for the National Assembly for Wales election 2016.
